綻放 Silent Blossom
This painting captures a cluster of flowers blossoming in the darkness. To best interpret the night, I employed a technique rarely seen in traditional Chinese painting: washing the background with ink as the foundational tone. This approach borrows from Western painting methods and recontextualizes them within the Chinese ink tradition.
At the same time, I introduced a subtle increase in saturation—distinct from the understated elegance of classical Chinese aesthetics, yet avoiding the garishness of heavy coloration. The result is a quiet vibrancy that lingers.
To me, the night is mysterious—veiled in mist, elusive and deep. Bright colors blooming in such an environment feel fresh, refined, and quietly provocative. The work carries a strong decorative quality, yet beneath its surface lies something more: a meditation on contrast, on emergence, on the tension between concealment and revelation.
