Fragrance from Afar

Within the depths of ink lies an unseen coolness. This work is a return to the traditional delights of brush and ink. I used heavy ink clusters to dot the dense lotus leaves, with glimpses of red lotuses appearing like faint lights in the dead of night. The distant mountains are brushed with pale ink, creating spatial tension.

It is not just praise for the lotus, but a pursuit of a certain state of mind. Even amidst the complex ink-washes of life, one can maintain an inner fragrance. Purity is not about being elsewhere; it is having a clear landscape within while standing in the center of the crowd. Ink and color on Xuan paper.
