Vase Flowers of Olden Days
When opulence fades, only fragrance and shadow remain. Peonies in full bloom inside a rustic vase—a timeless subject reconsidered. On this tea-stained paper marked by time, I used blurred lattice lines to create a sense of viewing from behind an ancient screen. This base tone gives the pinks and yellows of the petals a soft-focus filter, as if the flowers were a dream spilling from an old scroll.
The fallen petals on the table are the most silent language of this painting. Perfection lies not in eternal possession, but in the grace of coexisting with wilting. I retained symbols like the character for "Fortune" on the vase; against the tea hues, they are no longer worldly prayers but a calm gaze upon a peaceful, enduring life.
