This painting is a study after a Song Dynasty original, capturing a quiet moment in a garden: a dragonfly alights gently on a pod-laden branch. The composition is spare yet alive—each element placed with the restraint and precision characteristic of Song aesthetics.
Though a copy after an ancient master, this study is not mere replication. In tracing the original brushstrokes, I sought to enter the painter's state of mind—to feel the stillness with which they observed the natural world. The dragonfly hovers between then and now, between the Song garden and my own.
