牡丹圖 Peony

This painting is an exploration of ink wash and negative space. Rather than filling every leaf and blossom with color, I chose to leave areas untouched—allowing the gold of the paper to breathe through. The peony symbolizes nobility and composure: in traditional context, it stands for quiet dignity—neither humble nor haughty, yet proud in its own right. While I do not seek to depict opulence, it is this very sense of serene composure that resonates with me.
